Good news for the women folk! No need for mammograms until you hit 50 (instead of 40). AND, they only have to go every other year instead of yearly! NO connection to this change and the healtchare bill...coincidental, I'm sure.

I don't really have a strong opinion one way or the other on this just yet, but so far according to them, the group putting up the biggest stink about these findings??? the Radiologists.

Wealth redistribution at its finest. I haven't read all of the posts yet, but this one just chaps my hide. How can it be called wealth re-distribution? That would mean wealth is distributed to begin with. Last time I checked I had to work to earn a paycheck, it was never distributed to me, so how can it be re-distributed? To me that's just flat out taking from one (stealing, taxing, whatever you want to call it) and giving to others. ôThe democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.ö Thomas Jefferson Sean

That's BS Stoney. My aunt had ACTIVE breast cancer at the age of 36 y/o, resulting in a double masectomy.
I had microcalcifications removed for biopsy at the age of 44. I pay for my health insurance via my employer as well as Tricare, so dayem skippy I'm taking my wellness visits, esp after that biopsy scare. Screw the 'experts'.
1% radiation? I'll take that along with a suntan over birth control. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />
Women's research in long term health and therapy is barely scratching the surface, with putting weapons into space a higher priority. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

I was being sarcastic about it being good news. I talked to 5 women at work today that personally had friends or family under 50 have serious cases of BC.
The article I read said the American Cancer Society is totally againt this latest study.
I did read (in Reader's Digest), that it is possible that a lot of the cases of BC in the US would not have resulted in death of the individual, even if untreated. Something about other countries where women aren't tested regularly...they found a lot of women who died of other causes also had the BC when the autop was done.
I don't have a firm opinion of this latest study...but the timing of it, is interesting.

This story (or rather, the backlash from it) made the front page of Fox News today. They're suggesting very plainly that it's a cost-cutting measure before the bill is passed.

I figured it also came out as a result of the stinkin health bill, but it's still posted as junk science, yet again.
One of the underlying culprits in particular I suspect is the factory (hormone-fed) grown meat (chicken and beef in particular) that could be a trigger.
Ya hit a nerve there Stony; glad you got some feedback from the coworkers. I had decided my option was gonna be NO CHEMO, so I just had to chew my nails until the results came back. Tough 2 weeks.
So is Viagra coming off the health insurance RX list? It should, and epipens should be put ON the RX list (most companies won't cover that one)-- go figure. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
A mammogram is about as early intervention as it can be, and is relevant.

Who funded that study? And there will lie all your answers. Answer: Study is funded and run by these people... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Preventive_Services_Task_Force...which is a U.S. government run and funded organization. Members are appointed by the U.S. government and it's a funded by the U.S. government... ...but it's an indepedent organization. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
