How is it a break in point? Mine latch TIGHT. I dont see any way in unless you break the window.

I am guessing they used a screwdriver or prybar to break the vent window out. I say this because all of the broken glass was laying outside of the truck.

hence his need to replace the glass?

But seems to me, if you're gonna break glass - why not just go for the whole window?

Small piece, less noise? Only reason I could think of.

You can also work them open if they DON'T latch tight; pop the handle, and you're in.

I was waiting for someone to mention this.

I've got ventvisors on the 'new' Taco; we are starting to really like 'em.

I like the vent windows in my 88...But they dont like to stay open on the highway.

They have adjustable spring tension on the bottom pivot, bottom of the window frame, but you have to disassemble the window to get to the adjustment. -- Matt

10 minute job to get them out, pull the door panel off, pull the weatherstripping back at the top of the door, unscrew 3 screws, unscres the 10mm bolt that also hold the frame in, pull out the window weatherstrip, roll window down, pull it out.
Prob get it all done in an hour.

I need exactly 30 seconds with the right tools and I could get into most cars. All ya need is something to spread the door jamb or where the window meets the door panel and something to stick inside the door between the window or in the crack you made and such.

Either work the lock action inside or out with a tool, not to hard at all. Untrained idiots smash windows out.

Body Damage is Cool
I like my vent windows. I think they look old-school cool! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> And, the frame makes a nice handle to hang on to on the trail. They do make some wind noise, as mine are old and rusted. I used weatherstripping on the glass where the rubber meets it to quite the noise.
