Well sadly you won't really find an M/T that will stack up to an A/T in the snow/ice. And you are on the right track as far as siping goes. The more siping the tires come with, the better wet/icy traction they will have. If you want to stick with your 33x10.5s (I am from your sig that is what your running) you will probably want to go with the KM2s.

The only other 33x10.5 option is the Super Swamper TSL Radials. And if you plan on siping them anyway they would be a good alternative choice to the KM2s. They will also offer more traction if you do ever end up off the road in the snow, so you won't have as many worries about getting stuck. Most people rule out Swampers as "too extreme" etc, but its not so true. The Radial TSLs are a more road friendly version of their Bias Ply brother, and the do live up to the Swamper reputation of being extremely tough. So you won't have to worry so much about cuts etc.

But in the end its up to you. A lot of people run the KM2s and after you sipe them they should perform well in the snow/ice. Or go the not so usual route and grab some Swampers, get spoiled by them and never look back.
