Getting the Wheeling Fever
Not only does my fuel bowl go dry after 4 days, but the battery drains as well. Anywhere typical to look on these pickups for battery drain causes?

Hook up an ammeter in between the battery + terminal and the [positive battery cable and check the reading. Then start pulling fuses to disconnect circuits and note if any cause that current to drop. If so, trace down what is powered by that fuse and see if you can track down the source of the current drain. Common problem is shorted diodes in the alternator.

I've done that, didnt notice anything...last time I tried it. I will try again and then I will disconnect the alt and see how it holds out....thanks.

If you have a shorted diode in your alternator [very common problem] you must disconnect the big alternator cable [the one that's bolted on] to see if the battery drain goes away. If you don't have an ammeter, you can do this test with your $1.49 test light.

Need a Spot
fuel bowl may be bleed back into the tank check fuel pump battery drain using a volt meter check voltage at the batt and record next pull all fuses check voltage and one by one replace fuses checking each time the volts watch for a volt drop when you find the drop look on the fuse block at what it is for and check out that component more that should give you an idea on the problem

Its a mechanical fuel pump.

I think [at this time] the culprit might be the dome light.

Resolved: Something is defunct with the dome light.
