I finally decided to part with my 92..Put 40k on her..and she was good to me so...Think i'd like to try my hand at importing..just not sure where to start. Cruised lots of auction sites, but there are literally hundreds..with hundred of thousands of cars going weekly.

Not that I don't like to support local industry, but I'd rather not dump 12k+ to a importer with landed stock.

I loved my LWB Exceed so i'd have another..I'm just hoping the 2.8 would give me a bit more than the 2.5 did. I'd do a 2 dr but having the 4 drs makes more sense.

So having said that i'm in search of a 2.8 94/95 LWB Exceed leather all that...and seeking advice from those who have "done it on their own" or used a broker in Japan and got it shipped here.

Feel free to chime in..pm/email me..whatever.

Thanks in advance!

I've used JDM Connection (near Edmonton) twice now, and would again. William is top notch. As far as which one, V46WG 2800 all the way. Fuel economy is not quite as good as the 2.5, but the extra power and better coldstarting is worth it!

Well I can relax and take my time now and start looking for the new one. As luck would have it, I just fell into another truck. I ended up doing a +cash trade ( My KTM 400 + cash) for a 92 Isuzu Bighorn 2dr with the 3.1 and a 5spd. The standard is definately not as simple to drive as the auto was but i'm sure i'll get used to it. It's just a "for now" thing anyway.

I'll say this..It's definately quicker than my 2.5 Paj..but that was to be expected.

Phil did they just charge you a flat fee for finding what you wanted?

The 3.1 Diesel Bighorn is definitely the better choice. As much of a Mitsubishi fan In am....I will alway choose Isuzu over Mitsubishi!!!! they are proven to be the most reliable diesel engine in the world. If I found an Isuzu diesel truck in my price range I would pick it up in a second!!!

I am still looking at possibly bringing in a Safari...Gear driven timing and used all over by the UN and Nato. 4.2 diesel (turbo or non) and gets decent milage. They come in a huge variety of configurations but a 4 door auto can be found for a fairly reasonable cost it seems. Most I think came with factory locking diffs and they are live axel front and rear. The more I talk about it the more I want one

Ya i've considered the Safari turbo for the same reasons ( solid axles- diff locks) just like a cruiser but without the 20k pricetag smile

The bighorn I got is plain, cloth seats, only the driver is heated, no "bouncy" seats...swb and overall suspension setup is sure rough compared to the Paj. I guess you could say it's more of a real truck. Gonna need some wheels and tires, oil change and some glow plugs to get it right for now.

I had a Rodeo before the Pajero. It was fine, I guess. It rode terrible and was subject to bump steer really bad. I put OME shocks on it and that helped huge but still sucked for ride. The engine, albeit gas, was not for someone who couldn't put oil into a motor. It would eat about a liter per 1000 km. This was a design flaw of the motor and I fought many battles trying to reduce consumption. All of my parts had to come from the states because none of the GM dealerships around Calgary wouldn't even admit that they used to sell Isuzu. I found the interior components to be a bit cheep and for a 2000 like I owned, I find the Pajero is better quality. I looked at a bighorn once when I was first buying a RHD. The transfer case was tied into place with one bolt and some zip ties ..... WTF! Who does that???. No that was not a factory option but it did make me shy away from Isuzu even more.

So far it's been fine, better on fuel than the Pajero was I think..despite being much faster and i'm certainly not light on the pedal in the first place.

Took her out for a little 4x4 wheel action with the 2/3 bald Blizzacks on it..did respectible even in the snow over 1000m elv. Definately first order of business is the tires and wheels though...maybe a couple offroad lights. No bushguard on this one..boy i'd really like one though!!!

Got a ISSPro Turbocator (pyro and boost combo) to install..it was sitting around some dudes palce he wanted $90..it was never used. I'm sure it's very old, but never installed and it's all there so i'm sure it will be fine.

Need to get the exhaust cleaned up too ( there is a goofy warm up butterfly in the system you can close/open remotely that they say is A) prone to failure and B) restrictive.

I think I could get some good jam out of that lil 3.1...
We shall see!

So anyone got any other experience doing a self or broker only import?
I still think abother Pajero is calling my name...
