I'm with Toasty on the "using Auto Zone parts that fail anyway" thing. At least you only have to pay for the part once. If they're dumb enough to lifetime warranty a part like that, I'm dumb enough to buy it. That's a good point, especially since they are the same price as OEM

I worked for them for 2 years and i suggested they make the idlers stronger for monteros or they're wasting their money. 100 Idlers later between all of us down here and they still suck.
Ok so I plan on picking up a spare Gen 2 idler to make a fixture out of it for making the support mounts, same goes for the gen 1 idlers. I'm hoping this will be as simple as i'm thinking it will be.

I would consider removing the nut and replacing it with a machined extension that threads on so the bearing you add is further down giving it more leverage to keep thing straight.

That's a good idea <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> It's also worth mentioning again that the zombiezone idler arm as a longer shaft compared to the OEM. On the OEM unit there are not enough threads for this brace idea to work, making Charlie's suggestion all the more important <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
