Hey all,
Great site. I Just bought an 89 Raider v6 (3.0) 5 spd. I have been digging through your forums for the info I need to get it to where I want it. What are my lift choices without getting too far overboard? Tire sizes? I was thinking along the lines of 2" lift with 34 x 9.5 x 15 LTB's. I am keeping all the driveline intact. And the engine purrs like new. would I just be better off with a body lift? What about when you do a body lift all the crap that needs lengthened? Like the brake lines, shifters, filler, for example? I was formerly a big Jeep freak but I wanted to do something new for a change.
I am trying to keep all specific info on this thread.
THANKS in advance
Welcome, I'm also kind of new.. I also picked up an 89 raider about a year ago and this board is invaluable. Some really helpful guys on here.
For your lift & Tires, just to save you some time contemplating.. Replace your rear springs(assuming you have coils in the back it should if it is an 89) with springs from a GEN II LWB Montero. (1992-1998 ish) You can pick them up from any junkyard for pretty cheap. Then crank your front Torsion Bars (remember to allign the front after doing this) Many guys run this setup especially on the SWB Models it is a perfect lift and will give you about 2 1/2". This set up will allow 33x9.5 or 10.5 easily. I personally prefer the 31x10.5 to allow for flex room in the wheel wells. (33's are a little snug) If this isn't big enough lift for you, go with a body lift in addition. Good luck and post some picks as you complete your mods.
