Ahhh.. you're planning on swapping the entire rear end. I was thinking you wanted to put that center section into your axle housing.

Entire diff swap is 100% a go.

The SR front gears are high pinion, no go into your housing since it is a low pinion. The ratio is close enough that a few thousand miles of tire wear is a bigger issue.

I knew this would happen soon after I installed the LSD from the Gen1 LWB.... and it hasn't even turned one revolution yet. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> But that's a benefit of running a yard like this.... the stuff just comes to me if I'm patient. I guess I'll pull this SR axle with the parts Michael listed and save it for another day when I run out of projects. That sure is a beefy looking axle and it would be nice to have those rear discs. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />

With some fresh paint, the 5 SR wheels will make nice street wheels for the G-Raider or the MM. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

More questions:

1) Is the flange face on the pinion the same distance from the axle center as the Gen1 so I won't need to shorten the rear propshaft?
2) Do I need the brake proportioning valve from the SR?
3) Aren't the SR front brake calipers dual piston type?
4) Will the SR front brake calipers mount on the Gen1 V6 knuckle?
5) Is the Gen V6 brake booster and brake M/C up to the task of the SR F/R brakes?
6) Are the SR front brake rotors the same size as the Gen1?
7) Can someone explain the benefit of the SR UCAs?
8) WMS-WMS = 2" more than the Gen1 axle? Looks like wheels with 1" more backspace and front spacers would fix that.

IIRC, more gen II upgrades for the gen I are the front brake calipers (rotors too?), the idler arm, and steering box.

The SR calipers and discs are wider than the gen1. The 3.0 Monteros and all the 90's Sports have direct swappable calipers with the same width discs. These use the same AP530 pads as 3000GTs, G VR4s Diamantes and other Mitsus so it is easy to get many compounds of brake pads.
I just swapped Sport calipers onto my MM and eliminated the rear axle valve. Only test driven at this point but I think I like it.

The only thing specific to SR is the locker. Otherwise any other parts of interest are the same on all 3.5L Gen2, or any Gen2 I suppose.

I believe the Gen2 UCAs are longer and so they help to set the camber on Gen1 trucks with cranked t-bars and the ball joint is beefier (?) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

The camber correction is what I can see would be helpful to some, but I have my front end set where I like it..... at zero camber.... with good ride quality...... and still have shims to toss if I need more UCA length to maintain zero camber. I don't plan to use a taller than a 32" tire, so I guess I don't need the UCAs.

Has anyone managed to use the dual piston front calipers on a Gen1?

What I meant by the wider axle width is that it should be possible to use wheels with more backspace to get the rear tires (C/L-to-C/L) track width back to approximately where they would be with the Gen1 axle. To avoid using different back-spaced wheels in the front compared to the rear, you could use the same backspace in front and rear if you used wheel spacers in front.
