I am looking for an automatic bellhousing from a Montero.

It is time for me to get back to making adapters for manual transmission conversions and need some bellhousings to work with. I expect I may need a bellhousing from both an AW2 and an AW3.

Anyone have an unused one laying around?

Cheers, Charlie

Thanks Toasty,

In some ways the automatic housing may be easier to work with. At least once I can get the parts drawn.

If you're going to be making adapters could you use bellhousings off of V5MT-1's I can get you two of those

I have one manual housing here and I can make it work.
What I am doing at this time

The AY6 gearbox has an integral bellhousing that I will be cutting off. This leaves me with a row of perimeter fasteners to work with. The AY6 had a 9" depth within the bell that I need to shorten a few inches so the finished unit comes out the same length as the AW3 it will be replacing.
What the automatic bell may offer me is that the more open rear section might adapt easier once I can get these all drawn up.
I also can make adapters to the MA5 and AX15 gearboxes and the auto bell should be better for them too.

If what I am working on pans out I will have about 6 different gearboxes to mate behind these engines. This will be for both car and truck use. Most of these will be bolt on, the one I am doing now is more complex.

Charlie, what does the 1991 model Montero use? I have a potential donor for your use if this works.

Hi Russell,
That would be the predecessor of the AW2. I expect it is the same transmission under a different name. Not that I can remember the numbers right now.

Kevin C. would know.

Thank you Toasty.
Russell, I expect I will get that housing from you. I do not need that one right away since that will be for a car transmission swap that will follow this one I am working on.
