Looking for an oil cooler for my 2.6l TSI project. I need the lines and everything. Anyone have experience with this one? Starion Oil Cooler

That one doesn't have a thermostat. A stock one from a starquest works fine. You'll have to mod the lines to make it fit. I cut the crimps off the lines with a hacksaw and used high pressure oil proof hose with double clamps to replace it. Use new copper crush washers on the banjo fittings. I mounted mine to the pside of the radiator opening in front of the radiator, bolted to a handy bracket, turned 90*. It was a little tight over ahead of the wheel arch on the pside getting the hoses past the tsi air cleaner stuff, but doable with the rubber lines as opposed to steel ones.

Is the Thermostat in the oil filter adapter? I have that part. I'm worried about a JY Starion cooler after CFC.

The thermostat is the big acorn nut looking thing on the adapter. Take the cooler and the adapter, less all fittings, to the machine shop and get them to tank them clean (NOT oven bake them).

I'm getting closer to the install. Gathered many parts and have been reading a lot. A couple things I have not seen. Has anyone done an MPI / Mega Squirt into a Gan 1? Can I get some tips on this if accomplished? What about the A/C compressor? Any issues in the Gen 1 stock location?

I have a stock Manifold that I modded so it has a T3 flange wielded on to it. In the past I have run just like this that I made up for more then a year with out any problems. I was going to put this on my turbo 2.6 build I am working on but I am going to go with a Mitsubishi Turbo instead.

I don't think you have to do any thing to the A/C but your going to need to have stock TSI brackets for it. I have not done that yet.

As for the Balance shaft removal. Some motors have a lot of vibration after they are removed/Idle will seem a bit rough. If you get the motor balanced with out them not on there you can get it so will be smooth.

I have done a MPI on a first gen1 in the past. its fairly straight forward. The intake is a fight fit by the brake booster. might have to not use studs on the head it was much ezer to put the intake on with bolts.

You can balance the motor and you will still have vibration if you take the balance shafts out.

You are trying to cancel a second order vibration ( 2x engine speed) with first order balancing (crank shaft spinning at engine speed).

I'm planning to keep the balance shafts.

A/C Brackets - will my stock N.A. brackets fit next to the TSI Intake manifold? Looks like all the bolt holes are on the TSI block for the tension adjuster and compressor mounts.
