Oh man Oleg that was a tad harsh. I was expecting tiny cell phone pics from GreatWhiteShark and instead I found pretty darn good pics showing a great weekend... then I saw your post. However I will say that I should get myself one of those $99 Panasonic DMC-LZ8 pocket cameras, boy that was a nice shot.

GreatWhiteShark -- Great write up and I loved all the photos! Kudos for spreading the word about 4x4Wire. This forum has an awesome group of Monteros and could always use more (truthfully I've never wheeled with another Toyota from this site, instead mostly Monteros).

Oh yeah, and thank goodness for CB radios!

Joanna, not at all, I was really trying to help. I just do not understand how a person who can afford expensive 4-wheeling sport cannot afford a cheap basic camera.

One word Oleg... 'priorities'. Some are simply focused on wheeling and not taking pictures.

Also I should add that I'm no expert/pro photographer but there is one thing I've learned... even a $10k high end DSLR system or a $30k medium format camera system will not make up for having basic photographic skills... (yes you an get totally crappy shots without this basic ability).

A good photographer will be able to take awesome pictures using just the most fundamental point and shoot... or even a mediocre cell phone camera.

Just like wheeling its the driver that can make a difficult section look easy just as a good photographer can produce a spectactular shot, while a crappy photographer will simply take mediocre pictures no matter what they're using.<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I have been through the Argus Range and Panamints a couple of times. There are a lot of old mining cabins in the area that are being cared for by volunteers to keep them from falling apart.

There are a selection of mild to wild trails that seem to move around. What is "mild" one year can become a radical challenge the next and back to mild the following year.

OK... I agree.

When you see somebody 'wheeling in a 2WD, you cannot resist an urge advising "get a 4WD".

I was just trying to explain that even a simple dedicated camera would make the process much more pleasant for both the photographer and for the grateful viewers. I did not mean to discourage GreatWhiteShark. To the contrary, I assume that she might want to make more pictures in future and to post them here.

Oh boy. Even a $99 camera would produce much better pictures. You have to invest into the equipment. You spent more $$$ on the gas traveling over there than a half-decent camera costs. You have great views but you just cannot capture them because your photo equipment is inadequate.

Oleg. You are wrong.

I put these pictures up for everyone to enjoy and you attacking me makes me think you are a mean person.

You are misinformed or you do not have adequate info on my gear.

i resized all pictures down to 600 x 450 pixels for the forum.

the real size is closer to 3450 x 2850 pixels.

here is a picture about the same size as yours.

[Linked Image]

if you have a problem with the size of my pictures then send me a private message next time.
