The image that I posted was highly compressed because I did not want to force everybody to download multi-mb image. The original image is just too large.

Again, the quality of the image is not directly related to the image size or granularity. Old SLRs with 5,6,8 Mb picture sizes produces awesome images.

This is about colors, distortions, clarity etc. Many modern cheap cameras produce 10+ Mb images, with very finely granularity. Still, the quality is low compared to old simple SLRs.

The image quality is mostly dependent on the lens. Cheap cameras with small lens simply cannot produce good images because of the laws of the physics.
