Body Damage is Cool
Guys, from her very first post, I felt something is fishy about GWS personality. I think that this is a joke account of a well-known person from here.

I am in LA, after the Anza "expedition" (you will have the story and pictures soon).

I just received a PM from GWS. According to her (???) message, she was taking part in our common trip to Deer Valley 2 years ago. She (???) knows that I broke the rear side window on that trip.

There were several of us: Russel, Carlos, Joanna, Kris and me.

I think that GWS == Kris.

I think that was a great joke. It reminds me the game of Mafia Sorry for my comments, I was just trying to crack open GWS.

I'll be back to Bay Area on Sunday night. I am visiting vovkus (Vlad with white Trooper) in LA.

Have fun dealing with GWS smile

This is what $400+ SLR can do in the desert:

That one's a bit grainy i think you got ripped off I've got a $200 Fuji that i think is a piece of crap and it takes cleaner pics than that. Just sayin

The image that I posted was highly compressed because I did not want to force everybody to download multi-mb image. The original image is just too large.

Again, the quality of the image is not directly related to the image size or granularity. Old SLRs with 5,6,8 Mb picture sizes produces awesome images.

This is about colors, distortions, clarity etc. Many modern cheap cameras produce 10+ Mb images, with very finely granularity. Still, the quality is low compared to old simple SLRs.

The image quality is mostly dependent on the lens. Cheap cameras with small lens simply cannot produce good images because of the laws of the physics.

OMFG
I thought I was the only one to think that.
Kept trying to dismiss the thought.

Oh well. We'll see.

And I'll throw in one of these and one of these just in case.

GWS -- Prove us wrong! How about finally posting a photo of your rig?

A check of several several IP addresses associated with the posts in question indicate that all posts originate from the same San Jose based ISP.....

As most people have dynamic IP settings, it is possible for one person to have several IP adresses associated with the account over the span of several months.

I forgot to mention that actually that was a film SLR (not a DSLR) and the image was scanned.

I am too lazy to use film SLR often, but when I use it, it makes great images.

With the same lenses, my SLR usually produces better images than my DSLR, especially when the light is low.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
i had mentioned that one person had rolled her rig. here is the details and a good reason to get a ham license!

It was someone from my club that rolled. She is doing fine. out of the hospital. The 2 kids and 2 dogs walked away bruised but ok and scared.

We got the Jeep back on its wheels and started it up. i drove it out of the canyon with help from a couple winches.

this trail is not a difficult trail. It is a stock Jeep Trail. This corner is not a dangerous corner if you pay attention. She got scared and panicked, went too fast instead of stopping and drove into the hill. The Jeep flipped on its side and continued down the cliff.

Lessons learned from this.

Always have a sat phone or hf radio available. do not rely on CB and cell coverage.

Do not skimp on a first aid kit. the $10 one at walmart does not cut it.

If there is a possibility of trouble, stop and use a spotter.

Do not rely on rescue services in these instances. Rescue would not go into the canyon to get her. Our club had to use the back seat as a back board and carry her out so they could get her to a vehicle. Trona Fire would not respond, it was out of their district. Park service would not take their 4x4 off road.

Park Service is only worried about getting the vehicle out of the canyon, not the condition of the occupents. They kept asking, when are you going to get this out of the canyon?? Will it be out by Monday??

Marsha is home now and recovering fine. She has a medical appt today to evaluate her hand that is bruised up.

The ham radios are the way to go, and as we all know, the CB's become useless in a canyon like that for long distance communications. Our club became painfully aware of it this weekend.
I am attending a ham class later this week, and it has been scheduled for a while. I am trying to get other club members into the class too.
Also, the first aid kits that were in the vehicles were useless. Not the right type of stuff to treat what was wrong up there.
We are going to buy a big trama type bag for the club. Another painfull lesson this weekend.
