greatwhiteshark thanks for the update. glad the kids are ok and the driver will be(i understand). this is an example of how self sufficient one needs to be when out in the middle of nowhere. first aid and communications are good(ham interests me). i run solo alot and try to avoid needing either(aid or comm.). richard

I didn't see you mention that someone activated a SPOT and received no response! Wow I was surprised to see that.

Oh boy. Even a $99 camera would produce much better pictures. You have to invest into the equipment. You spent more $$$ on the gas traveling over there than a half-decent camera costs. You have great views but you just cannot capture them because your photo equipment is inadequate. This is what $99 Panasonic DMC-LZ8 pocket camera can do: This is what a $99 Nikon in Death Valley can do: This is what $400+ SLR can do in the desert: Just get a real camera, and you will be fine. i can not see any of your photos holger? You really were unfair to the GWS guy after he made a huge effort to entertain you. why? In most situations i always ask myself what Jesus would have done. I think Jesus would have complimented him on his photos and maybe gently suggested better quality or a better camers. so Great Photos and write up GWS but maybe get a better camera with higher resolution.

I liked the write-up and photos. Good job, GWS.
I also resize my photos to 640x480 as I upload to MontyPics, if I'm going to be posting them here, as I cannot stand having to scroll across for a whole page because one person added a pic that's too wide.
And, true that about digital cameras, in that the mega-pixel count is so misleading. My old Sony only captures up to 4MP, but the lens is the ticket. Whoever Carl Zeiss is, he knows how to make a camera lens!
Anyway, thanks again for taking the time and effort to post this up.

Are you from San Jose, too? Wow, the NORCAL numbers are growing exponentially. The price on UHAULs leaving Kali on one way trips should start decreasing any day now with this type of geographical membership growth!

i can not see any of your photos holger?
The pictures were on the geocities site. It is closed now. I am in process of creating a new site. You really were unfair to the GWS guy after he made a huge effort to entertain you. why?
Kris, what are you, a sort of schizoid, or what ? Why are you talking about yourself as a third person ? This is not funny anymore. In most situations i always ask myself what Jesus would have done.
come on. I hope Jesus would whack you in the head.
