I read the "How to change a pinion seal" from a search but I still have some questions.

It has gone bad before and we took it somewhere to have it changed.

I have normal air tools to do this if itÆs not a big deal.

To order the parts from Toyota it will be $30 and some change.

1.) oil seal
2.) dust seal
3.) washer plate
4.) spare nut

MY main question isà

How hard is it to change this pinion seal? Can I just loosen the pinion nut, slide off the flange, slide on the new seals and re-assemble?

I have the unit on a bench so that will help, but I am concerned about the correct pre-load being restored.

I dont know how you can count the number of turns of the nut when removed because the impact gun will zip it off.

D0 I need to order a few crush sleeves that go on the pinion, OR can I simply leave the one on there?

Should this be done with a breaker bar & socket or impact gun?

Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have not done any gear swaps before.
