Yes, I will try the method. Thank you for the link, I have found this method previously but this is the most official and clear description. Unfortunately, it stuck (or, the "ping" started) while driving on the interstate, right when the tranny shifted down to keep speed up a hill. I am worried that there is something worse than a VLA, but am not sure. I am no engine mechanic but did manage the valve guide seals on my own. I figure while I'm in there I should put new 3mm VLAs in, even if i have a busted rocker arm or something.
