Umm, I'm pretty sure THAT's what is causing you transfer case gears to grind. Your lift likely has nothing to do with it... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Let me guess... Poor performance and an SES lamp on due to the intake cam timing not advancing when commanded?

There was a Chrysler 300C that came to our shop a couple months ago with an engine noise. It looked worse than that. Everything looked like it was covered in wax but it was oil sludge, no more oil in the oil pan.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Had an S-10 pickup come into a shop I worked at years ago. Pulled the plug and nothing came out. Stuck a screwdriver in and got a glob of sludge out. We used air pressure at the oil filler to get more sludge to ooze out. Gave it a good rinse with some fresh oil and sent them on their way (after having them sign an acknowledgment that we couldn't have caused their impending engine failure).

In the mid-90s one of my coworkers had a neighbor lady ask him to come look at her Corolla because it didn't sound right. He asked her when she last changed the oil and she says "Oh I have to change that?" The car had 60,000+ miles and 4-5 years on the original oil before it started acting funny.
