had I not just saw a roadside smog checkpoint. The Sacramento County Sheriffs department has a lane of traffic detoured onto a mobile smog check trailer. The entire lane is backed up and folks are being illegally detained.

Really guys??? Is this what we have become?? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I'll show them....I'm firing up the Jag and ripping through that thing with the air/fuel mixture set a little richer while talking on my phone, smoking a cigarette and shooting a seal in the head.

Maybe it is just a wasted use of stimulus money and once that well has dried, this will die on the vine...???

And yes, the whole thing is absurd. If where you are is at all like here, you don't need to set up road blocks to catch the hard to find polluters. Not where there are plenty of easy to spot smoke spewers all day long on the byways I travel. Just get out and drive around. That's what they get paid to do anyways, right?

I'm sure it'll be here soon, too. Good thing I don't drive much anymore.

And no one here is questioning the DUI roadblocks the cops set up? No one can get thru those either, guilty or not.

So, how can you ascertain the folks at the smog block are being detained illegally? Just wonder'n.
