Remember... driving is a privlage. You have no right to a motor vehicle, no right to a license. So the state can do whatever it wants to check your license and your vehicle.

Come to think of it...as George Carlin once said...you have no rights at all. What you have is a "bill of privlages". Not a bill of rights.

Don't believe me? Ask the newspaper reporters that Lincoln jailed during the civil war for not reporting what he wanted. Just ask the Japanese American citizens who were detained in world war two. What about their rights? They didn't have rights, just like you don't. They had privlages and privlages can be taken away from the government anytime they feel it's justified. In war, in diaster, or even when some supposed, ambiguous and indefinate overseas threat of terrorism looms over the country, or threat of communism...or threat of anything else.

There will also be a threat of something, so there always only be privlages.

Ask any concealed weapon permit holder about his right to bear arms concealed. It's a privlage that can be taken away if most issuers of those license feel your a danger to society and that's assuming your privlage to bear arms is even allowed in your city or state.

Ask any accused terrorist about their rights. Again..privlages. Privlages to a speedy trial, privlages to a lawyer. Privlages to be able to face your accused. They don't deserve any rights you say? Some of these guys are American citizens. What if you were dragged out of bed in the middle of the night and accused of fighting for the taliban? Would you think the same then? Why not? The government says it was you. And since your rights are only privlages....

The only difference between our privlages to drive a car and our privlages to free speech, is that most of us readily admit that owning a car is just a privlage. Most of us still believe that our right to free speech is inalienable and absolute. Yet, just try making a violent comment about the President in public and see how inalienable your right to free speech is. Try discussing how you believe our government should be overthrown, much like Jefferson advocated and see how long you a free man.

Welcome to the land of privlages. And if you think I'm full of it, just try running one of those smog stations and see how long your rights to be free last.

Yes it sucks. But the first battle to taking back our country and our rights is to first admit what our society and our poliical system has devolved into. Patriotism is not about a flag, or a set of borders, or any war that was previously fought. It certainly wasn't that way back when our country was founded.

The founders didn't fight over borders or flags or in support of their previous vetrens and wars, at least that was not their primary motivation. They fought, because they felt they were oppressed and they wanted to be indepedent and free men.

You've been indoctrinated to fight over borders and over property and to worship a piece cloth on a pole. And you've grown to accept that your rights to be truly free are secondary to those material things and your economic and personal security.

And now you know why you have no rights...but a lot of privlages instead.
