Remember them taking guns away from citizens during Katrina? I wonder if any officers actually brought up the fact that it was an illegal seizure. I think most just wanted to be little soldiers no matter what country they were in and that is a shame. Indicative of what we usually see out of law enforcement.

As far as I know, that only happened in New Orleans, and I personally was not there to see that.

I will say that NO ONE that I encountered was even the LEAST bit concerned with any of the citizens here with guns. I ran into FEMA goons, state police from here, state police from numerous states, and counties, Hell even some from Canada IIRC.

For about 4 days after the storm, I did not even feel the need to carry a gun on me. The people who stayed for the storm were the only folks around, and they were all the self sufficient type who diddn't need any outside interference anyway.

After about a week when the local morons started trickling back in things got a little crazy, and there started to be some road rage incidents, and gas station showdowns. I started carrying my pistola on me.

About 20-25 days after the storm, when I started going back to my job over in Biloxi, I started to get really spooked, and put my 870 over in the passenger seat of my truck. There was a national guard checkpoint at the railroad tracks, and those guys were ALWAYS happy to see me. (I was bringing them styrofoam go plates from the buffet in trade for MRE's)

As far as I know, those guys were happy to see armed citizens. Of my 12 employees, 9 were armed with firearms, and 1 had a hatchet. That guy was a BIT off, and the hurricane did not help that. His house was destroyed, and he lived in a TeePee for the 15 or so months he worked for me after the storm.
