Need a Spot
I have a super clean 1989 Surf 2.4lt turbo diesel Hilux, 5 speed. manual transmission, for sale. ~ 92k miles, body and interior in great shape. New aftermarket cooler running head and timing belt.

This is a 2nd gen. Surf/4runner with on the fly 4x4 and a factory offroad package.

THE GOOD NEWS:
* THIS VEHICLE IS REGISTERED IN USA for the past 3 years, and passes tough Arizona emissions testing each year no problems.

I get 29 to 32 MPG.... I get parts no problem from a great shop up in Canada (Mustang Connection), This vehicle is RHD but don't panick. RHD is funky for about the first 15 minutes but soon very easy to drive and I switch back and forth between my trooper and surf all the time. Initially you will hit the wiper control when you want to turn as these are opposite, other wise it is a quite seamless transition,(clutch, brake, gas pedal are in same order as LHD) You will get some looks when folks see your dog in the "driver's" seat or when your wife or buddy falls asleep in the driver's seat....

THE BAD NEWS:
AC does not blow cold after replacing head probably just a matter of a recharge. Also, two small spots of rust (2cmx2cm) on body. Since replacing the head there is a small oil leak at back of head (spots the driveway).

OK, THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION....
I got obsessed with getting this vehicle and put a lot of money and effort into it so the BIG QUESTION IS "WHY AM I SELLING?" Truth is I am not very handy with a wrench and because this engine is an odd ball here in the States I can not find a reliable mechanic who will help me to keep it up. I thought maybe it would be my "roll your sleeves up and get under the hood" zen experience but it is just not happening. The vehicle runs great but as noted above needs some detail work.

I would like to get $10,000 for it but I will entertain all offers so drop me a line if interested because I need to sell her...

I got it from a guy up in Canada.

My goal was to go green with a veggie oil system but I never got around to it.

seemed like a waste to potentially damage a good engine with WVO.....

Was it purchased and brought it into the states? or Did you buy it once it was registered here already?

I heard you on that one. I am hoping that the economy kicks in a little to the point were others feel like spending some money for a non-essential vehicle.

I have had the surf mostly parked this summer but have been driving it lately. I had to get two new batteries at the tune of $170.

Thanks for the web site tip, I will go over and try that also.
