Web Designer Creates Movement Seeking to ban divorce
2009-12-04 15:21:59 (GMT)

A web designer in California is seeking to have divorce banned in the state.

Sacramento, California (WiredPRNews.com) û A Sacramento web designer has begun a movement to have divorce banned in the state of California. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), John MarcotteÆs efforts have begun following the implementation of a voter supported state ban on gay marriage in 2008.

Marcotte is quoted by the AP as stating of the initiative to get voters to support outlawing divorce in California, ôSince California has decided to protect traditional marriage, I think it would be hypocritical of us not to sacrifice some of our own rights to protect traditional marriage even more.ö

As noted in the report, Marcotte who operates the comedy website BadMouth.net, has received considerable support for his campaign from those who opposed Proposition 8, which was a measure to ban marriage between gay couples, as well as those who supported it.

I don't know what business the gov has in regulating relationships between people at all. Period. Just use a "domestic contract" and deal with any contract violations in the usual way. If you have to have a contract...

Not necessarily Les. It doesn't really fall into that category yet. Besides, some of the old-guard politics forum haven't even posted here and f-ed it up yet.....

Just wait.

BTW, I agree with ya Eddy. Gov needs to be out of it entirely. They never have and never will have any business in that area of personal lives.

Oh, crap. Now it's political.... Oops, my bad.

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

California has a strange relationship with divorce. As long as there are no children involved, a divorce is treated as a business decision gone bad.
