Just took a look at the forecast for Ukiah/Cow Mtn. 40% chance of showers and I've confirmed with the rangers that it will be closed for this upcoming weekend. Also found out more info about the trails I'm considering as an alternate starting a Ft Hunter Liggett. Here's what he wrote back. Will be checking them in my Delorme Atlas shortly... Well, first thing is the maps I use, most important to least; 1. Southern and Central California Atlas and Gazetteer (SCCAG) 2. Los Padres NF Maps
a. Monterey and Santa Lucia Ranger Districts(great one) b. Mt. Pinos Ranger District c. Hungry Valley SVRA
That'll get ya where you need to get
Plaskett Ridge is South Coast Ridge RD. Routes 22S05,20S05, and 23S01, off Nacimiento/Ferguson rd. west of Fort Hunter Liggett (SCCAG pages 31,43,44, and map a above. Get it, good one.).
Cuyama Lookout is Cuyama Peak Fire Lookout, Route 9N11, just south of Cuyama (SCCAG pgs.76 and map c above. Get it, good one.)
All the maps for Los Padres NF are great to find the side roads and places to camp. At this point I'd like to know who will be going for sure? Please post up.

That's about 340 miles for the trip down to Hungry Valley OHV Park and 276 miles back to my house in San Jose.
I think I'll put my rig on the train and meet you'll at the OHV park. I'll check the fare, using my senior discount, for a round trip ticket.
Just kidding, I'm planning to go.
