Be aware that today Facebook is changing the privacy settings opening all your information up the outside searches such as the Crawl search that takes all information it can get then compiles and hosts it all over Yahoo and Google. Far worse than the Board reader is.
I do not post any real information but some do. Just beware.

That is why Facebook is lame. I feel sorry for the people with no real friends in life who hang out there.

Better to have 1 friend in the real world than 1000 online acquaintances.

I agree, not having any friends would be lame.

What exactly do you think 4x4wire is though? FB is merely another form of media to network pics, stories, ideas. Some folks get carried away with posting every time they take a crap which gets annoying but for the most part its a decent place to network.

As far as privacy goes.......Anything posted in any forum is no longer private and you are in charge of what is posted.

How many Mitsubishi guys would you know if you hadn't joined the wire? Same deal....its not all bad....especially if your a stalker.

it is sad to watch so many people plan their days around facebook or my space. a quick log in for maybe 10 minutes each day would be ok i guess. but spending hours on that site wasting your time is just wrong.

you could be making real friends or having real fun in the REAL world.

don't get me wrong. facebook is a fun site.i just prefer to do something with my time that is not " wasted time ".

Some of the so called "mitsubihi guys" i have met. i wish i hadn't. i am not perfect. but i try to learn from my mistakes and not put my discomfort onto others for no reason.

there is another reason i do not like Facebook. it allows people you have blocked to access your info through second parties. so you can never really block someone completeley!

smile

Do people do that?

I think its funny because I've spent exponentially more time here on the wire than any other forums and I only have met two people here. I have over 250 friends on FB and I know personally about 225 of them so my FB average is way better.

And FB the 'gotcha'- many employers look you up on FB and MySpace. If job hunting, clean up yer profiles.

I just do it to interns to find interesting stuff to talk about...since most bring nothing to the table.

There is one thing I think all of us have and that is, we have a choice of how we spend our free time. There is nothing sad about that.

If you're talking about taking your vehicle off the road and driving though all kind of terrain, than yes that's a complete waste of time and very sad. Ask any stranger on the street.
