In this case with Toyo DIY, I'm sure it was a copyright infringement deal. Toyota is VERY tight with anything that has their name on it. Thats why you dont see anything in stores like hats, license plate frames, mud flaps, with the Toyota logo, because they wont sell the licensing rights to it, at least not for cheap.

I really dont think it has anything to do with Toyota not wanting their customers to work on their older cars, but rather Toyota wants to keep their copyrighted property safe.
