You're in Cleveland, OH? I remember your screen name, but not you being in Cleveland. We should get together.
I pretty much never see a Gen I around here. And like you said, less anywhere over the last year on Autorader and ebay. They would still seem to be out there by the comments from others here. Seems like maybe less active selling, and more local word of mouth is moving them.

Ah, Cleveland Heights rings a bell. Fairview Park for me. Come drive down my street and you'll see three Monteros as once. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
Yeah, don't see many on the road around here either. I have a pretty good eye for spotting them. Lately the ratio of Gen IIIs has been increasing from what I spot.

Boulder Colorado is lousy with them. I drive mine every day, and it's a rare occasion that I don't see at least one other Gen1 4-door. I probably see a Gen1 2-door once a week. They seem to come & go in waves on craigslist, but if you're patient you can get one in mint condition, plus a junker for parts, for less than $2k. On top of that, it seems like most people don't know how reliable these trucks are. I often see trucks for sale cheap that appear to be on their last legs, but Montero last legs are pretty long!
The bonus is that around here, there's no rust. I grew up back East in Massachusetts and NH, so I'm used to seeing five year old cars disintegrating into fine brown dust. Out here you can get a 20 year old vehicle that's nearly factory-fresh.
As a side note, you wouldn't believe how many Land Rover D90s and D110s I see around here. Now there's a truck to covet!

I have 2 Gen 1 s. Also, I was in the UK earlier this past week for a couple days. Older D90 & D110s are pretty reasonable over there. What are the rules on bringing over a RHD? Something about age if I remember correctly... A TD 110 or 130 would be nice!

Actually, there's your answer right there - we're hoarding them! Pretty much everyone on the board has at least two.
