Hey guy, give me a call neext week. We'll meet up, talk about some things. If you want I'll help YOU do the work so YOU know how the thing works. that way you will save money, learn the mechanicals. It works out better for you ($) if you do the work. Got any pics of it?

I whole heartedly agree. The saying goes... KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

In the case of these old Monteros and Raiders - it's so true. It keeps you from getting hosed badly by someone else who also knows nearly nothing of these trucks. The reason they charge so much isfor the additional time it'll take them to figure things out, deal with rust, etc. No one besides the engineers who designed the thing can know your truck better than you! And even then engineers are questionable! (I work with them daily <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />).

I knew we would be over our head trying to fix this up but it was love at first sight for her...

Thanks for all of the offers to help. I don't have room in the garage right now to do the work and my neighborhood association does not allow prolonged work on cars in the driveway.

I am still looking for the parts at a reasonable price. Where do you guys get your brake parts?

OK, looks like were getting a little Mitsu club going right here in OP. I'm probably only a 1/2 mile from you.
I haven't met Mudraider yet, but we got a little trip going this weekend.
Let us know if we can help.

Speaking of OP, have you seen the little old lady driving the brown SWB Gen 1? She pedals that thing out pretty well. Beautiful little stocker.

By any chance, had you already bought her an 87 Raider which she drove up to Michigan about 2 weeks ago?

I rescued this 87 Raider from the side of I-75 with a hole in the block. Guy I visited to collect title and key from had his wife there... wife said her 17yo daughter came up from Florida when it broke down about 20min from destination. I assumed one parent was from FL the other in MI and she drove up for holiday. Something about Florida girls and these little Raiders I think....

Anyway, the 87 Raider with hole in the block is another thread!

Did you have make major modifications to complete the conversion? The mechanic who suggested this said that I may have to change the ignition system since the computer could be effected by disconnecting the vacuum lines. Is this the type of carburetor you are suggesting:

Can you suggest someone in OP that can install this for me?

Thanks for the offer. With the prompting from the group along with additional information I was able to find a local brake shop to do the work for less than a third of the original estimate and it will be completed tomorrow.

Thanks Again! You Guys are Great!
