Let's you and me hang out by your right front fender a minute, eh?
-Remove your negative battery cable and set it away from the battery terminal. -remove the breather hose off your throttle body and pull it and the air cleaner end out gently, not banging around the darned MAF sensor -unplug that piece of crap idle air control solenoid that's just under the throat of your throttle body and remove the solenoid's two 8mm screws... -remove the solenoid and its rubber o-ring (or what's left of it) from the TB -go get your hayne's manual or your (say it ain't so...) Shiny and new FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL -grab a digital multitester and a 6 volt lantern battery and test your poor, pitiful idle air control solenoid per manual directions. -then go to napa and order a new one for about 104 bucks. Echlin# 2-19243, I think.
Afternotes: Adjusting the Throttle Position Sensor and/or ICS setting is rather useless if you don't first remove all cable tension from the transmission kickdown cable on the throttle body's belcrank (auto trans).
Don't hook the battery back up if you're not finished screwing with the sensors.

Another note: I've beaten this dead horse a few years back but I may as well tell it again.
My blasted windshield rubber was leaking and it permitted windshield wiper fluid to leak ONTO my TWELVE HUNDRED dollar computer, rendering its little ground wire at most, ineffective.
(Make sure your ECM is properly grounded, even if it means you have to run another ground wire. Look for the telltale signs of crystallized, dried windshield washer fluid around the ECM and nearby wiring.)
