Getting the Wheeling Fever
I had the dash pulled on my '98 4-door Sportage to replace the instrument cluster. The knee air bag was disconnected, and then reconnected when the dash was replaced. The air back indicator light is now flashing. It won't reset/erase using the standard code reader that clears the CEL codes. Can anyone tell me how to reset the air bag codes? Thanks.

It has to be reset with a Kia Pro Scan Tool. Only dealers have access to this tool so you must visit them to have it reset.

I might further add in the area of safety:

You should remove the fuse in the mean time so as to negate the possibility of the airbag from going off while driving.

And replace that fuse prior to them resetting it with correct equipment and propper year of vehicle.

Should be around $85 to $100 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

-----for just 1 minute of resett----

Hydra, that's not true. The airbags are not more prone to going off when the system detects an error.

Yes, unfortunately the dealer will rape you just to reset the system.

Thanks AXE, (I would still remove the fuse though). <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
