What is the best way to determine if the fuel pump is getting fuel to my 3.0 (12 valve) engine?
Thanks

Disconnect the coil lead, crank the engine over a few times, remove a spark plug and see if it's wet with gas.

I have spark , but, engine won't start so I suspect it is not getting fuel. Will see if it has a code 42 also. Was just reading post on how to read out diagnostic codes.
Thanks

Two man job, and somewhat dangerous. Remove and ground coil wire. One man crawls under and takes off line from fuel filter to engine. Other man is the key monkey. Aim the fuel filter into a catch container with a rag to stop splash, and turn the key to ON (not start) and you should get a 1-2 sec. shot of fuel as the fuel pump runs for a second. This will be at pretty good pressure, so be careful. There's also a line to the fuel rail, but I don't like squirting fuel in the engine compartment if I can help it. Testing at the filter will make sure the filter and fuel pickup in the tank are clear, leaving the injectors and pressure regulator to check. Cycle the connectors to the engine harness to see if that will clear any 'lectron problems.
Make sure you have a tach indication when you crank the engine (coil wire replaced), as the ecu will not fire the injectors if it doesn't see spark on the tach wire.

Thanks Just an FYI -- your pump can be bad and the ECU may never throw a code. Happened to me... Eric W.

No code for the fuel pump in any case - There's an access plate in the cargo area to get at the fuel pickup/gauge sender plate on the tank you can remove. There's a fuel pump drive wire in the truck (see fsm) to which you apply 12v+ to make the pump run. You can hear the pump with a stick or hose against the bone behind your ear when the wire is powered up. Old voodoo trick...
