I saw it in 2D at a matinee for $6!
The nearest theater playing it in 3D is $10.25 per person for 3D. My wife gets motion sickness in the new 3D movies, so I'm just fine saving $17 for the family to see it in 2D!
Oh, and it is a very entertaining movie!

story sucked big time for me...
evil white man... bad...
blue creatures... good.
btw, james cameron... in 1992, a small movie called fern gully did the same thing. i'm sure you havent seen that movie cause the storyline is the same.
oh right jim... you have blue creatures that were motion captured.
and computer graphics up the wazoo...
yes, the visuals were great... but the story aint original.
come one... who the heck would design remote controlled tree cutters... and then have humans escorting it????
what kind of logic is that? i guess in the year 2154, they never heard of UAVs, etc.
sigh...
jim... next time, how about writing a movie about a couple who falls in love while travelling on a ship... oh wait...

Thank goodness, I was beginning to think I was the only one that doesn't like it..
I'd rather go watch Fern Gully <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Come on guys it's a Sci-Fi flick it's not supposed to be some great work of literature that will be taught in school books 100 years from now.
And it had better acting than the last Star Wars release <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I'm waiting for it to hit the cheap theater...I can do without the 3d. It does kind of annoy me that so much of a movie be a cartoon. I hope I like it. I DID like District 9 (AND there's a dude in the movie who is a dead ringer for my brother. lol)

Did James Cameron ever give the old scifi book any credit for avatar or was his story 100% original and awesome if you ask him. Fern Gully is awesome, favorite movie as a little kid, that goofy ass bat makes it work so well.
