Anybody have any recommendations for a replacement radiator for a 1990 3.0l Montero (SWB). Mine started spewing coolant yesterday. OEM Mitsu radiator is expensive, $480. Others like Silla are less than $200. Wadda think? Loioking for quality at a reasonable price. Thanks! Rockdoc

Good quality can be had. Inexpensive monetary cost can be achieved. Both generally can't happen in the Mitsubishi 3.0L cooling dept.
I had my factory radiator recored to 3 rows at a local shop for $450 and wouldn't do it differently if faced with the decision again. Lots of people have asked the same question you ask now. Aftermarket radiators are hit and miss. I think Larry (hazydaze) may have a decent brand.

NAPA was being supplied by Proliance (they bought Modine several years back) but due to them not keeping up with NAPA's demand, they were dropped as a supplier. They made a very good product when they were Modine and better than average one as Proliance. The current supplier is Spectra, a Canadian company that sources most numbers from China. They're making a fairly decent product, so far. I've had zero warranty issues since the changeover and I sell ALOT of radiators a month. I'm currently running one in my truck and have no issues with it other than it's slightly lighter gauge than that of OE. Justice ordered one that came in from Spectra and he didn't like it. Reordered one from Proliance and IIRC, said it was acceptable. He's deployed right now, but he may chime in at some point. HTH.

The problem I had with proliance was that the first one I installed leaked, the second was damaged in shipment. The packaging is poor which I believe caused the leak in the first by bending the AT cooler connectors and the of course the second one which was bent all up at the main inlet. After all the hastle they told me they were out of stock and couldn't get a third one in. So yea, I was forced to use a POS plastic tank model due to upcoming trip..Going to replace that with JY OEM when I get back.

I'm gonna go with a Proliance radiator. Will pick one up tomorrow at a Denver distributor. Thanks! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> RockDoc

my only radiator experience thus far has been a Sela unit ordered thru an independent local dealer about 3 years ago. within the first 30 days it started leaking at the top tank weld. Replaced under warranty, the 2nd unit hasnt been a problem since.
