Body Damage is Cool
I'm confused, you're telling me they want to total the Kia?

I thought you said you drove home in it... so there's not much wrong with it at all, right?

I don't get it... Surely a new hood and some minor bodywork is cheaper than the cost to total the car...

heard that! im keepin it,and fixin her. ive got damage to 3 doors both front fenders, hood, grill,headlights.markers. front passenger axle boot shredded. both radiators, and trans cooler.blue book is around 5000$ i figure it will never be as nice again.i aint gonna come out ahead in this game. so i'll fix it as good as i can with what they give me and try to be gratefull for that.
then im gonna retire my current backup vehicle, ford f150 to the farm. and go buy a toyota tacoma,or nissan frontier.
kia will probably get drove the most since it has remote start.onboard pc..and hey now its beatup and i dont have to worry about it.and as a regular hear says "body damage is cool"

Blitz,
Looked over my last post to this thread and it sounded as if I had no empathy. I appologize if it sounded that way.
I'm glad to hear that you are going to get some compensation out of this unfortunate event. I agree that getting another vehicle is a good idea. I've been talking to my wife and we need to get one for her. She wants a Toyoda 4-runner or something to that effect. I'll keep the Sportage as it is my baby. My Sporty is no looker either, so if she gets retired, then she'll become my full time 4x4ing rig. Plus she's more fun to stomp around in than any other vehicle I've had. Like a big boys toy...
We calls them scratches and dent's on my rig - Memories.
No need to take a picture, my Sporty is living proof of the fun I've had in her. And the pain too.

Hey Blitz, you lightly replied to Hydra about the rear bumper fog lights but didn't mention where you got them or what brand?

I'm very interested in doing the same cuz they look great. Could you share some knowledge with us and start a new post

Well good luck dealing with the bast... I mean insurance people.

I will be really surprised if you get blue book for it (if they total it). My old Sportage was totaled, and at the time I remember finding that blue book was something like 5 to 6k, and they only gave me 3k.

They actually claimed that the lift, stereo, and other mods made the vehicle worth less, by the way. If I had been able to give them invoices showing that a shop had installed those things, they would have put those costs towards what they paid me, but since I purchased parts and did the work myself, I wasn't able to get anything for that.

Hope you get more than I did, but don't be surprised if they screw you over! Luckily in my case I was able to sue them because of my injury and got some extra cash for that.
