Your right, loveliness is in the eye of the beholder because I thought most pre 1968 cars were a big box on wheels! And, chevy's were like a$$holes, everyone had one! My buddy had a 67 442 which went straight ok but didn't handle like mine. My 69 came with stiffer springs and huge frt and rear sway bars.
