I've had someone blow smoke up my before..Have you guys? This was a marketing ploy & a way for Mr. Bennett to get a feather in his cap & an ass load of free advertisement. This is shameless & if he thinks that we would all rush out to buy his product;I hope he will be profoundly disappointed.Kudos to the guy that was first in line to get a freebee!!You're my hero!!!!! As for Mr. Bennett....k*** m* ***(there isn't an icon for this "greeting")use your imagination.I'm truly sorry if I offended anyone.I know that I have the right to remain silent,I just lack the ability. It's really odd that I've never been fired!

Sounding like you've been burned before there Stumpy? or at least had a bit of extra caffeine this evening? Step away from the keyboard and breath there friend.

Mr. Bennett didn't do anything inappropriate. He never even slightly alluded to having multiple units or anything else misleading.

As for your comments, I think they're out of place and unwarranted.

Perhaps, Mr. VA_Stumpy, you could use a lesson in public relations.

First, Rugged Ridge is a PAYING advertiser that is helping to keep 4x4Wire available.

They are extending an offer for people to participate in a TEST FITTING of a new product.

And, you have the nerve to complain???

You, sir, owe the readers of this board and Rugged Ridge an apology for your crass attitude.

And, you need to avail yourself of the great Virginia education system and learn respect for yourself and others.

Believe me, I do "get" you and your childish attitude. Grow up.

I would like to say, if this test works out well for tester and creator alike. I will be buying a set of RR hubs if I decide to keep my LWB or if I buy a Mitsu pickup. Gotta love it when Mitsubishi gets 1 more aftermarket source

Well said John. I fail to see why ANYONE would get sore about this. It's a bit like sending rude emails to people who sold their junk on craigslist before you inquired! Hubs were offered and the offer was accepted. End of story. Further, the first 3 responders are all well respected on here and would produce interesting reports no doubt. We will ALL benefit in the long run. Also, kudos to RR for wanting an opinion about a product that we will all hear about. If the hubs are junk none of us will buy them. Doesn't sound like a shady operation to me

Tell me, did you respond to his post ?

Yes.

Didn't it make you feel hopeful that you could get something free....

No - I have 1 perfectly good set of OE auto hubs, a set nearly new Superwinch hubs that I bought new (including a new trail spare that I bought) and a second set of used Superwinch hubs that I bought from a junkyard. So, I really don't need any more hubs and don't care if they're new or not..... there's a limit to how much a fellow needs.

Quote
...... & that they REALLY valued your opinion?

It's not that the man wanted MY opinion - only that he wanted one. It doesn't take so much effort to change hubs, so if someone wants to build a product to improve the performance of the vehicle and I can see the product is useful, I don't mind lending a hand. I would also test-fit them and return them if that's what he asked.

As for the profit-motive...... why else would someone own a business?

Frank

Well, if they were the only ones that still made them.... why did he suddenly post that the company was just now "testing" their product?I'm not pissed that I didn't get a set, my auto's work fine for me & the way I use them.It just seems a bit conspicuous that, out of the blue; a rep would choose to post on this site & we all respond, drooling , for a set of free hubs.It seems that there may be hidden motives,or maybe I'm just paranoid. Again... I wasn't trying to offend, just a gut reaction.

If you take a look at the other forums on this site you will see that we also offered the same test to the Isuzu guys, early Toyota guys and the newer IFS Toyota guys. We are doing a cross the board change over and just needed some help form the guys who are in the dirt with there import rigs. Sorry you feel that something sneaky is going on here. The "nothing in life is free" statement is not always correct. As stated we are improving our line of products and were looking for real world input. At this time we are not doing the full blown testing but rather needing simple feedback. (1) person can supply what we are looking for. Also if you look at the billboards you will see that we also help sponsor this site. We are already adverstising but in the most honest way possible.. Not sure what else you could want from us? If I made some type of mistake in how I worded my first post than I'm sorry... But not sure why? How about this.... [color:"red"]Rugged Ridge is phasing out our fist Gen. locking hubs for Mitsu's and we need your help. We need (1) person for early development testing of a new design. We are needing simple fitment and function test done on early development samples of our Gen II hubs.[/color]

Look, I'm a wheeler like most of you and have been blessed with a Job that lets me play with this stuff most of the time. When I can give back I try to do so. Sorry you are that scared of companies and free interprise.

Amen, brother. After looking at their site more last night, I was then thinking on the drive in, "How cool for these guys. They are/have been building a business around this sport of off-road." Okay, now I am getting mad myself- because I am jealous...
