I lived in CA for 12 years and now I'm in Oregon. Some of the issues are similar. We don't have the smog problems like a lot of CA, but we do have an issue with losing fish habitat.

Every place has its good points and its bad points, I had a great time on CA central coast. A high-lite is going to Pismo to ride the dunes. We have sand to play in in Oregon as well. A huge issue has been yahoos running their SUV's through flocks of birds,,, Intentionally!

That and the drunken sand rail driver that killed a few people on the dunes.

Talk about ruining it for the rest of us.
