I hate to say it... but there's a long way between a Raider that drives, and a Raider that's running well.
Honestly, if I were you I would buy one from somebody on the board who's wife is making him sell it. If you're patient you can pick one up that's already been lovingly restored to showroom quality. I thought I saw GrassCat selling his, but I must be losing my mind because I can't find the post now.
Stick with it, though! If you fall in love with these trucks, there's nothing else that will do.

Sorry on the problems ...
Haztoys law on cars ...
"I" never buy running cars ...A $5000.00 dollar car can blow up and become lawn art at any time ..
So I get a $500.00 dollar Monty thats died ...Put $3000.00 in work and parts fixing it .. So that I know whats been done to it ..Its hard to ever get your money out of a car .. It helps if you keep your cars for ever (as I do).. It does not feel as bad to dump a large amount of money into them if you know your going to keep it...
As a mechanic its funny on how people think they can't work on cars ... Then they get someone around them to give them a pointer or two ... Help them with the use of tools ..And away they go.. Man at least find someone to give you the ends and outs of the braking systems on a car ... I bet you'll be shocked on how easy a brake job and wheel bearing pack is on most cars and trucks .. Monty are easy as brakes go ...
Good luck and nice to see you here on the forum ..

I just got off the phone with Frank (Mudraider) He said the same thing. Once this settles down and my Daughter gets this on the road I will take you guys up on your offer to show me the ropes. I will have my Daughter join us so she will learn along with me.
Thanks for everything
