well I havent had the same problem but as a alternate to getting a new alternator if the new belt doesnt work then i would get a can of electrical contact cleaner and soak the alternator in it. that might clean out any oil that is in the alternator itself. The brushes may have been gunked up. let us know how it all works out.


Would have to be rebuilt (again) as Diesel Ranger/Pajero alternators also house the vacuum pump for the brakes and are as rare as hens teeth on the used market..
