Body Damage is Cool

I read somewhere was to undo the motor mounts, drop the crossmembers, pull up the engine a bit, drop the transfer case so the drivetrain is angled to get at the bellhousing bolts.

Remove the tcase first. Get rid of that much length and cumbersome mass at the tail end. The rest will come out pretty easy, but you may spill out the atf in the process. Then remove the tranny on the ground. I'd take the torque converter loose while it's in the air, so it comes off with the tranny, then remove it from the tranny to keep the weight from ruining the front tranny seal.

I pulled the engine successfully. I unbolted all the mounts, slid all three (engine, trans and TC) forward enough to aid in getting the bell bolts out. Then pushed all back to approximate original position. Jacked the tranny as I lifted the engine a bit and a few shakes and the engine was free to lift. Thanks for the help!
BTW: It clears the radiator without removal.

If your engine swayed too much and dinged a big hole in the rad you would have been sorry.... Glad you got it out without pain though.

Thanks for the help!

PO sold me this unit thinking he had a blown head gasket. Not! What I found was the engine has a missing freeze plug at side of block (large one). I will do a leak down to make sure that I have found the only major mechanical issue before putting it back in the vehicle. I was wondering why it idled so well with a blown head gasket. HaHa Saves me some money for now anyway!
