How does it feel shooting?
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

I had a glock 36 once. Ended up selling it because while it was a very nice gun, I think the gun and especially the grip is much bigger than it needed to be for a compact single stack .45 that only holds 6 rounds.
It's nearly the same size as the medium size Glock 23.
You basically are getting a double stack gun/grip with a single stack mag, because Glock choose to stick with it's mostly plastic magazine, which has to be much wider than the metal magazines. Also the 36 has a unique frame that is entirely unique that model only, while nearly all other Glocks share a basic frame with other models, so holster options are slightly more limited.
However, I regret selling it, because it was still a good shooting, reliable gun. My biggest complain is really just that it's too big for the capacity and the magazines were especially too big for only holding 6 rounds.
I'd really rather have 13+1 .40 cal in the same size gun, than 6+1 .45 cal. Now if Glock would just make a true compact, true single stack gun with a true single stack grip....then we'd be talking.
I do agree, however, that as far as .45 ACPs go, it is the most compact of the Glocks and the only other .45 ACP, the 21 and 30 have grips that are WAY too wide for my liking at all.
Glock needs to figure out a way to narrow their dam grips. not just front to rear, like they have on some models but side to side and if they'd go to metal mags like everyone else, they could.

I have not seen or held a 36. The gun shops here do not have one. There is a gun show next weekend .25 miles away from my Apt. Maybe I should start a compact gun thread.

From what Ive researched, Glock will not import a true single stack pistol because of importation points.

I agree with most of Brain's comments. The 36 is definitely the red-headed stepchild in the Glock family, being the only single stack. The plastic mags are probably wider than they could get away with if they changed the design, but the grip size necessary to accommodate that also fills up my palm and probably contributes to its good shooting characteristics. I was surprised when I first fired the 36 that it didn't seem to have all that much more recoil than my Springfield mil-spec. There are some Glocks that are smaller than the 36- the 26 & 27, and a few others chambered for your more esoteric/enthusiast calibers. Some people don't grip those smaller ones very well but you can fondle them and find out what you like.
The 23 really is about the same size as the 36. I wouldn't have any problem carrying a 23 either. My dad has been packing one of those for probably 15 years. Trade-ins can be had for cheap. I just don't own anything else chambered in .40 and I already had a bunch of .45 on hand for my 1911 so I just stuck with that round. Yeah the 36 is only 6+1, but often times in shorts & t-shirt weather I carry a 5-shot .38spl S&W so I didn't view the capacity as a major issue. I do always carry a spare mag or stripper clip for these.

I use my pistol 2 times a month for a pistol match, and a 3 gun match(rifle, pistol shotgun). I use my pistol daily to carry on my person for self defense. Luckily I've never had to use it, but if it's needed it's there.

Maybe I should start a compact gun thread. No because there's really not a need. Get a good holster, and get a 1911, or a fullsize glock. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Greg, guns are for killing people that need killing, and for protecting the citizenry from a too powerful government in the plan of the drafters of the US Constitution. OK?
