I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee Laredo and there is a factory alarm LED type light between the front visors.. What is it and can I do away with it without issue?

The "LED light", if it's factory, is the receiver eye for the factory keyless entry remote. The system works off line of sight Infra red signals. You could unplug the module to see how the power locks react, worst case, they won't work.
