There is a lot of patch work welding, it seems that simply extending them would be easier, and not require the upper ball joint to be moved from the stock location. Too bad Toyota didn't use longer A-arms with the T100, it would have been a common swap by now.

Not sure what you mean by "simply extending them" - isn't that essentially what the modifications are doing? On one arm, you weld on brackets to lengthen (and strengthen) it, the other is a bolt-on extension. IIRC the deal w/ the T100s is that the frame is wider rail-to-rail, so the distance from the diff housing to the bushings on the A-arms is longer, requiring the longer axles but (unfortunately for us!) geating the need for longer A-Arms. In truth, long-travel arms are more of a liability for Toyota, since they mean more potential axle swing room, and higher liability for breakage.

Looking at the pictures it looks like he spends a lot of time on the bottom A-arms cutting out oem material and welding in new. I haven't taken any measurements, but it seems like it would be easier to do a single cut across the A-arms, just in front of the mounting brackets, or somewhere along them where you could use a section of square tube the would slide into each section of the A-arm, and weld the A-arm pieces to that. I can't tell if this is what he does than uses plate to reinforce the bottoms. If he does, then I don't understand why he didn't do the same for the top. It certainly seems like it would be cheaper/quicker than making the upper extension, unless he felt that the t-bars would exert to much stress on the welds?
Yes I believe the T100's used the same component as the mini's, just widened the frames. Also until reading this post I assumed that Toyota simple extended the axle tube and inner axles, but now that I think about it that is two pieces/side and not just one end of the CV.

My only guess is that from a time/cost/payback perspective, it comes out better to just have the extensions fabricated. he's trying his best for the expense to be as low as possible for buyers, and mentioned a few times he's barely breaking even on his time spent on working already. You have to consider that modifying the A-arms requires him to buy the arm and do all that work himself (that's expense + time), vs having a machine shop make a small bulk order of the extensions. I'm not sure where one guy would even find so many A-arms - how many SAS leftovers can be in one place, lol? That's just my guess. not sure how the welding of the lower bracket is done - once I get mine i'll post up here about it. But gotta wait on some $$ from Uncle Sam first...

I was just about to order mine, then at the last ECORS race I took on some pretty considerable body damage... unfortunately I have to put it off to realign my finances a bit.
