Not sure what you mean by "simply extending them" - isn't that essentially what the modifications are doing? On one arm, you weld on brackets to lengthen (and strengthen) it, the other is a bolt-on extension.

IIRC the deal w/ the T100s is that the frame is wider rail-to-rail, so the distance from the diff housing to the bushings on the A-arms is longer, requiring the longer axles but (unfortunately for us!) geating the need for longer A-Arms.

In truth, long-travel arms are more of a liability for Toyota, since they mean more potential axle swing room, and higher liability for breakage.
