My current plan is to leave Thursday by noon or a little earlier and take which ever route is the fastest. I may stay in Bishop Thursday night because the hotel selection is a lot better.
Ray, any plan for a base camp yet? Camping or hotel'ing?
I remember that Miller Jeep trip. That was my very first offroad trip. Had a great time.

Bruno, Ray, I suppose that actually taking freeway 80 through Reno is faster than going over highway 50 along the South Lake Tahoe. I am going to start from Bay Area Thursday morning, go to Reno, then drive down 395. I'll probably stop at Cabela's shop on freeway 80. After Reno, I'll probably drive through Virginia City.

That's actually my old 95SR! Hey Carlos! I'm talking about the SR on the left. That was Rodney's and yours is in the center correct? Because this was the pic I took of you back in '05 at MOD with the rack ontop... Mine is Navy Blue. That was Kirk's old 95LS and mine is in the middle behind the Mitsu Sign! I replace my Blue 95SR with a black 94SR. Good old times with my blue SR!

I can't to be at Lone Pine at 10:00AM. Can leave LA only around 12:30PM. Which FRQ and channels we will use for communication? Cell phones are useless in some areas of DV, but HAM radio and CB is OK.

Is that 12:30 on Friday?? Well, we are camping around that area. Check with Oleg or Bruno for the campsite location. As for comm's, for CB it's always Channel 1. We'll use Channel 11 as a backup in case Channel 1 has too much traffic and if 11 has too much traffic, we'll switch to Channel 2 / Channel 22 Channel 3 / Channel 23 and so on, and so on... We'll figure out a way to talk. As for 2M, you'll want to check with John or others who have it. As for FRS/GMRS, I'm not sure there. Also for those who end up coming later than expected, please call me as soon as you know you might be late even if end up realizing it at 3:00am Friday morning. From the bay the drive is at least 7.5 hrs. From L.A. it's only 4.5-5 hrs (lucky bastids!)

In the first "official" trip night (Friday night) we will try the following camping places, in the following order:
1) Warm Springs, either Upper or Lower (where the ranger is located), whatever is available. May be we will have to take both of them. They are located few miles apart.
2) If there is not enough space there, we will move toward the Inyo mountains to the west from Warm Springs. We are planning to try the Beverage canyon mouth (appropriately named). The tentative site location is:
36 44' 13.84" N 117 52' 08.01" W
This site can be checked/visited before Warm Springs if you are driving on Saline Valley in from-south-to-north direction.
If we will choose a third unknown location, then somebody will be waiting for you in an exact point of Saline Valley road, at 8PM. I'll come up later with the exact location of the checkpoint.

Logistics is making it very difficult for me to make the run and be at a 9 am Monday morning court hearing involving Eldorado NF.
I have not ruled out at least a Friday presence. That decision will be after a meeting this weekend.

PHONE NUMBERS OK, I have numbers from many of you who are coming...
For a 2nd/backup ph# for each group can I get numbers for... Steve (Nick can you send me his number) John/BlkSavage (Ty can you send that to me) John (Jason can you send that to me) Justice (If you're coming can you PM your number to me?)
FIREWOOD Please bring your own firewood. At least 1 large box of wood (2'x2'x1'). We'll share camp fires but I've found we usually run out of wood on these trips.
THE FINE PRINT Well unfortunately with these trips getting bigger and with todays litigious society, I feel itÆs important to protect myself and others on this trip from any legal ramifications. WeÆre all adults who are responsible for their own actions after all. So that saidà
If you are on this trip and / or these trails with us you effectively release me and any other participants from any and all liability for any harm or damage however caused during any act or omission, directly or indirectly the result of any event. It is understood and accepted by each of the participants that there is an inherent risk associated with participating in this event including but not limited to bodily injury, and vehicle damage that is assumed by each participant.
i.e. you are responsible for yourself, non-adults under your supervision, and your belongings regardless of what may happen to it on this trip and you accept the potential for any and all possible damages or destruction and you will not hold anyone else responsible for whatever may happen.
