Body Damage is Cool
On Memorial Day, any major Sierra route may still be wet, or snowy, or closed. I remember a year when I was not able to 'wheel around the Bear Valley because of snow in June. Later, on 4th or July, there was still enough snow to block access to some places. I made this picture in June 2006 in Bear Valley:

For Memorial Day, I'd suggest the Hite Cove destination. This is a perfect low-elevation place with lots of niceties. We can fish, hike and shoot targets over there.

I'll go along with Oleg suggestion, assuming I'm back in town of course.

Purpose for this trip is to make sure my rig (and others who will be with me on the Summer Sierra's run) is ready for the hard core trails this summer.

While I don't need the whole trip to be hard core (Dusy Ersham, Rubicon, etc), I would like to do a trail where I can 'stretch my limbs' if you know what I mean. Does the trail/area you're suggesting have that kind of wheel-able terrain?

If I remember correctly, on our last trip or two, you're not the one who's stretching their limbs. It was the rest of us, trying to "keep you or you rig out of the hands of the grim reaper" So I guess you're right you do need to.

The trail is very steep with some deep ruts, rocks and hairy down-to-the-gorge views from the trail. Vehicles which are not in 100% good shape will overheat on the way back due to the long steep climb. But there is nothing that cannot be handled by a stock sound SUV with a good driver. This is not a hardcore trail. Ray, if you do want to "stretch the legs", you really need something else.

The main point of the Hite Cove trail is that this is a great place for a large company to have a great time together with plenty of recreation opportunity. Although the trail is easy, the descend to the place, and the ascend back are exhausting. So, there are usually no people, and the place is pristine. I've been there several times and I'll be happy to visit this place again.

I don't care where we go. I just want to get out of town. Unless something comes up with my kids I'm in.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am up for this. The calendar is open so this is good timing. Where ever is fine.

This will be a good test run.
I almost have the tune right on the stage 1 cam's and am ready to swap over to the Jet Chipped ECM.

If I'm not working by then, I may be able to go as well. Not sure about the expense involved, though. We'll have to see.
