Getting the Wheeling Fever
How much did cost you to get that power. the magnum v-6 has 175 hp and 225 tq stock. I could make the power that you make with a little bit of work. Besides the engine setup is going to cost me very little. I have a 500hp small block that I could put in there, but I am not trying to build a race car with this. The combo have will work just fine for what I want to do with this raider. Thanks for the imput.

The stock Starion motor has a horrible down pipe / converter assembly. Swapping in a good down pipe and using larger inter-cooler piping and 14 PSI of boost is about all you need on the 2.6 motor to generate some really good power. More can be done but, those changes have great bang for the dollar.

They tend to generate low end power a lot better than HP at RPM. 290 ft lbs modded is not unusual. Stock for the 88 motor is 210 ft lbs / 197 hp .

The turbo works well but is not for everyone. Fabrication wise its an easy swap but your going to need to build an engine. Hard to find a good used on in a yard. The turbo piping and inter-cooler tend to make for a crowed engine compartment.

The main point I was making is the rear diff seem plenty strong.

The Magnum V6 sound like a decent motor. I'm assuming your going for an auto?

The reason I mentioned the mits V6 as an option was to see how much HP you would get over a factory setup for your efforts.

Some of the lower power V6's IMHO don't seem worth the effort.

The reason I am wanting to stay away from a turbo setup is I have seen to many blown up engines. My 15 year old is going to be driving this and I dont need to be building a new engine all the time , because he dicided to be 15.

LOL, unless he's VERY mature & UBER responsible, just buy him a big giant used car like a former Police car or something big and tank like. That's what I'd do to compensate for both his learning curve and stupid teenager hormones that are just waiting for the right moment to rear their ugly heads.

Just my $.02 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I had a 1967 4dr hardtop fury that was really clean, and he really wanted it. I couldnt stand to see him drive it so I sold it. He has a 1963 ford 4x4 that was his dads that he wants to drive, but the wife and I said that it would cost to much for him to drive it and if he did something stupid he probally hurt someone.

Keep the swaybars on it, don't lift it, stick with 31s, and he'll be okay. Heck, here I am a teacher, and picking up for the junior high kid... I should know better! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
