Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just in case you are wondering, why I didn't get the suspension shop to make the spacers... it would cost me more then if they make a set of springs... some BS of having to make a templet that they wouldn't prob use again as very little market for sporty's here in Aus.

Sportage, 75mm lift, 30"s A/T,UHF& HF, AVM hubs and more to come.

I got a spacer/adapter spare for the front struts if you want?

Weighs about less then 1 lb .....So calculate and PM me if interested.

Also give me the shipping rate...Don't feel like getting raped by the Ausi regs..

It is for 3" front though....

Thanks Hydra, but my Kia can only handle an approx 1.5 inch... 3inch is way too much for her.

But I'll keep that in mind if I can't find anything else, might be an option if I put back the original spring.

Be careful of what you ask for, you just might get it...

To give a 3" lift you only need a block of about 1.5" high due to the geometry of the suspension, a 2" lift needs a 1" block. The "saddle" acts on a point halfway along the length of the lower arm, multiplying the net effect of lifting x 2 (leverage effect).

Cool ... your way ahead of me

Well just another update a few more questions for you guys.
I'm waiting on some spacers from Everet but as I know these custom made items take time... and unfortunately I'm running out of time (I start my new job in another state at the end of next month) and I have already paid for the rear springs and shocks to be fitted. If Everet is unable to get the spacers to me soon I will have to ask the suspension shop to make me some front springs aswell so i don't lose my money (these things are made to order so no refunds ). I'm worried if I do need to get the longer front springs ( i think I'll only end up with approx 1 inch of movement/articulation) the suspension shop doesn't recommend this...
has anyone fitted longer springs to the original front strut or the same size KYB? If so any probs?

Secondly, once I get thsi shorted I'm looking to get some body spacers fitted in Melb... I see that Roger Brown (I think) sells these...anybody know if they fit on a longbody sporty? If so...how easy are they to install, i read the instrct and it says that you should replace the nuts on the rear then do the front...but wouldn't that bend the thread/bolts or worse break it as you lift the front?

This guy http://www.4wheelnoffroad.com/04body.html didn't replace any of the nuts as he went along...I would og thought this to be the best way as to not break or bend the threads/bolts.

Anyway any feedback would be appreciated.

HI Fourskia,

I senty an inquiry in early FEB to them regarding the body lift as I wanted to get a two inch as it is the max legal without running into major probs in AUS. (No airbag in mine )

Due to the bolt design they only make either the 1 3/8 I think the size is and the 3 inch lift.

If you have airbags have fun getting it engineered without lots of research.
Damkia is running a two inch in his but I believe he had the captive bolts removed from the body and inserted new ones? His is a big bum as well.

Cheers, Chris

O.K. got the lift in...

I also have some pics to share.

So to sum it up, the best way to get an extra inch in Aus is with bigger springs and shocks... but their is a problem.

The problem as documented before by Richard (2002 Sporty) when he broke a shock is plain to see in the photos below.

Really would like to fix this before I test it out on my next hunting/4wdriving trip, anybody know if a panhard rod extension will do the trick? (I know that wheel spacers would work, but illegal here in Aus... )

As you can see with only half of the possible articulation it really pushes against the shock.

O.K. for anybody who is interested... These shocks have given the kia just over 3inchs of lift, the ride isn't as good as the King spring set up that I had that almost felt like I was driving a car and it gave 1.3inch lift but the ride is still alot better (and safer) then the original spring set up, prob a bit of a harder ride then I was used too but still comfortable on the .

I havent had a chance nor do I want to test it offroad untill I resolve the rubbing problem (makes sense I guess, get an extra inch and you might end up with rubbing problems... ) but except for that I'm sure it will perform very well.

Thanks 4runnernomore for the info...

Only solution is new rims. I have the F100 4WD rims that only have about 4" from the WMS to the inside of the rim (known as backspace), versus about 5 1/4" in the stock rims.

Depending on your eventual choice of tyres you may need to do some bodywork, as the extra tyre sticking out of the wheelarch can hit the wheelarch.

There is one other solution, provided you're allowed to do it over there. You could do a shock relocation like the kit Dave was offering.

01 Convertible; Electric Fan; 3" Up Your Kia lift spacers; Tj 104's; 31x10.5x15's on Centerlines; Rear LSD.
GONE, all I have left are a few spare parts and the wheels.
