FOURSKIA,
Your rig looks really nice with the lift. Impressive stance.
I know your pain when it comes to the shock location and tire rub. I have the wheels to go on my rig with 2.5" backspacing, might be too little backspacing, will inform later when I get the money to install the new wheels. The Ford rims if available should do the trick, or order cheep steelies like I did, just not with so little backspacing. Don't off road your Sporty unless you just want to roll on springs, cause it looks like the shocks will snap on a bump at this time. Mine did, several times. Continuous replacement part till I get the wheels on. My passenger side shock broke the other day when some of my wifes big girlfriends got in the Sporty. I was on a ice, slid, corrected, and the rear end swayed back and forth then the shock broke again.

Thanks Richard, I'm now currently on the hunt for some cheap rims, keep us posted when you get yours on. Sounds like you have thicker shocks cus I had 3 fairly large blokes in the back of mine and other then some scuffing it didn't cus it to snap... then again we don't have snow/ice covered roads to deal with here in Syd , but I'm sure that it will break/bend off-road. But from what DAMKIA has written the new wheels should do the trick.

I have the 4" RSG lift and wheels with 4" backspace and no problems. My axle is centered with the adjustable panhard though also.

"F100 4WD rims that only have about 4" from the WMS to the inside of the rim (known as backspace), versus about 5 1/4" in the stock rims..."

What size wheels do you guys reckon I can get under the sporty on a 15x7 f100 set of rims? Does anybody know if they make a 15x6 f100 set of rims, so I can use the same tyres that I've got on...? they still have 90% tread.

Hi Fourskia,

You should be able to fit your tyres no worries onto 15 x 7's. 10r31's would be the legal max but with 3" of lift you might need wheel arch mods. You can squeeze 11R32 onto 15 x 7's bu they are not legal.

Now BFG used to make a 32 x 9r. This would be perfect for overall height and width (with 4+1" lift) for our sportys if we could get the gearing.

When I was looking to SAS mine I still was only looking at 11 R32 for tyre size as it is a good fit in the wheel wells without massive modifications.

Stick with your 30's or 235's max unless you have or are able to sourcea gearing change.

ADSKIA is still based out of Newcastle still and he had a set custom cut but appariently they COST $$$. He would be the best person to talk to regarding this. PM me and I can let you know how to contact him.

Cheers,Chris

Thanks Chris... currently looking at some wheels.

Now with the panhard rod, would anybody invision any problems if i cut and welded an extension in order to center the body again? I can get the shop to make me a custom extendable but as with anything out of the norm here in Aus it's a bit expensive.

Anybody in the US willing to post me an extendable panhard rod... I will consider if the price is right, doubt that it would be much more expensive then here in Aus...most likely cheaper.

Hi FOURSKIA,

How is the suspension going.
Love to here some feedback and were you able to fix the issues?

I am needing new suspension my self and was looking at the suspension stuff as well.

I am also thinking of going to Ultimate and seeif they are able to make up a set.

Look forward to the reply.

Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris,

Sorry for the late reply, but I have moved down to Canberra and been really busy with work. The suspension is going O.K. I have tried some different wheels with better backspacing (see post by DAMKIA on the thread for specs on proper wheels), this got rid of the tire rubbing at the back but you will always get some rubbing when you have the front wheels full left/right lock (not really an issue if you take it easy when in this configuration). Finally if you go with the wider tire i.e wider then 6-7inch you will get the them rubbing on the lip of the wheel arch at the rear...so I guess it's all about comprimising, if you go with this suspension set up... get the proper wheels, don't go with a very wide tyre (unless you want to do some body work) and it all seems to work. Mind you I haven't done any hard 4wd with this set up and since got rid of the ford bronco wheels with the correct backspacing... looked hideous on the kia, so I'm looking for a better looking set now. Will post results some time in June when I can get away for a weekend and hopefully by then found a new set of wheels .

P.S. I'll let you know next time I'm in Syd, maybe we can catch up...and if I find a new set of wheels we can test it out. Cheers Phil
