Body Damage is Cool
Sorry gyus for the late reply but I had a small problem with my account...

So yes it was installed and yes it works..

To make a long storry short
its not power ( so much ) but its a lot on "drivebility" meaning it not "stronger" but more "alive".

All the magik is not at full throtlle but on lower rpm it is "picking up" more freely
In an every day trafik e.t.c. you are hardly need to press the pedal
when shifting it "bites" imediately
I thing that the high rpm between shifting has decreace, and when you depress the pedal it "cuts" immediately
That obviusly will increase mileage.. we will se..
other things
no probles whatsoever
it starts with a "half a turn" of the starter
it has a rocksteady idle
and seems that you "feel" the combustion..

That's what i allways thought was needed, the bottom end pickup. Once it's reved, motor is strong. This summer, money willing, i might have to join the chip family.

Sounds like a pretty good low end torque increase. And since horsepower is a thereotical number based on torque, then yes, horsepower increase!

Mine went from a claimed 94 kW to 102 kW (about 9%), torque from 174Nm to 195Nm (about 12%).

Horsepower is overrated, it is the torque at low revs that makes the vehicle "drivable".

They do work. Done by remapping the ignition curve to suit a higher grade of fuel. Original Kia spec is from 87 RON gasoline. Powerchip is 91, 95, or 98 RON

All they do is remap the chip (in old terms, advancing the ignition curve a few degrees) and derive a new CRC checksum and save that to the correct location (computer geek talk - ensures ECU self check is OK).

The most significant thing is you need to use the correct grade of gasoline or higher than the chip you put in to get the effect. Using a lower grade of fuel will not hurt the engine, but it will misbehave a bit until it learns that it is dealing with a "bad batch". It will also take a tank or two to get back to normal once you have the right fuel in it.

There are no single "in-line" adapters (from airflow meter or the like) that will work in any petrol engine. Don't be tempted by the cheap "adapters" off Scambay, all they are is a 2 cent resistor that richens up the mixture (eventually stuffs your O2 sensors and won't pass your smog checks).

I guess it depends on what you use your rig for? Torque initiates movement & Horsepower takes over from there.

As you can see by my mileage, I drive a lot of freeway miles and wish the Sporty had a little more Horsepower as well.

The added torque would be nice but I wish I didn't have to run around at such a high RPM when passing and such.

Horsepower is torque/revs, horsepower being the derived unit. You cannot simply have more/less hp without it being as a result of torque.

Horsepower doesn't "take over".

see "Machine torque" and "Conversion to other units"
