Horsepower is torque/revs, horsepower being the derived unit. You cannot simply have more/less hp without it being as a result of torque.

Horsepower doesn't "take over".

see "Machine torque" and "Conversion to other units"

You got something in Laymans terms?

Maybe I should have rephrased it as mid to high range power vs labeling it specifically as horsepower.

im feelin ya 69. i also could use the horsepower over torque, since most my drivin is on highway at high rpm. even as underpowered as the sports are. back in the woods in low gear its still a stump puller.i need something to help me pass cars.

sad truth is no chip is gonna do squat for us. with the vehicles weight, and 130 cubic inches it aint gonna happen.
any body who chips there sport is gonna say it feels stronger. but who has a dyno to prove "specific" claims.

electric fan is the best mod to reassign some power/torque(whatever).k&n might help a little. exhaust maybe.
these gains per dollar far outweigh the "chip".

i would have to win the lottery to spend that kind of money for the small gain.

ive considered a small nitros boost.like a 25 shot.homemade if need be.a buddy suggested methyl alcohol injection. said its growing in popularity.not so hard on the motor.

My buddy has the meth in his colbalt ss supercharged. He said you do get some gain on naturaly asperated engines also, but not near the result on forced air. But for the price per gain, you have a point. Not bad for modifide windshield wiper fluid. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Blitz, I knew somebody would understand my madness <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I think I'll try all those inexpensive upgrades first and see how that goes before I consider anything else <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Ok dyno tested not....
but what beter than a good oldtime... slight but long uphill streit..
before 5th gear never happen
now it does and holds it..
( same tyres no service in between SAME GAS sinece I didnt have to re-fill before and after..

Yeah ok its not the superduper WOW improuvement..
but something definite happens up to the 3.500 rpm..

( And dont forget - I didnt have to pay so to say that i did a good purchase <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />)

Thanks for the experience lowdown Fokion.

Now knowing the outcome, would you have paid for it?

How much would it be anyway??

Well.....
I would sau yes, now that I have tested it...
the car is more "drivable"
Fuel economy is notisable since in everyday driving you dont have to press the pedal as much as before
Also this low end impruvment helps "clear" the low rpm quicker ang go to the mid and high rpm were the HP is..
In the Greek Kia Club there is a second car with custom header free flow cat that will try a different program, an englich one...

The cost is 400 euro -20% discount for the club and installation an other 50 euros - 20%

the one thing is that they are reliable, meaning that about 1.000KM now nothing bad happened..
and it also works fine "out of the box"

Megasquirt that i had in mind for a long time needs significant "fiddling" just to get the car running..
could it give something more???? I doubt it if you are not willing to go turbo NOS injectors, cams e.t.c.
if you are, yes deffinetly Megasquirt is a better solution in the longrun...
